Inspiration

Inspiration.

For my own magazine, I have took inspiration from the Vogue, male fashion magazines. The magazine uses a bold, black, serif font which gives the magazine a classic, but high-end aesthetic. Nevertheless, the brand is promoting contemporary clothing, which gives the magazine a larger target audience. The clothing is expensive and the models are typically young which makes the magazine fit in the ABC1 demographic. The colour scheme usually only uses neutral, and dull colours such as black, white and grey, which shows that the fashion isn't individual or eye catching but instead formal. Vogue use high-key lighting to bring out the models facial structure, and also to project the positive vibe its trying to give off. The facial expression of the Vogue models are typically very serious rather then happy, which shows that the people who purchase the fashion are serious. They use metaphors such as " Extreme passions stripped naked" to make the magazine edgy, however the metaphor also connotes a sensual vibe which may also convince men that the clothing will make them sexy, and they idolise the subject. Anna Wintour, was the director and editor of Vogue, and in 2012 when this magazine was created, this year she additionally directed a documentary about Vogue, and she also sold her biggest edition of vogue with Lady Gaga featuring, selling over 4.5 million copies!
