front cover analysis 1
This GQ front cover follows the typical conventions of Magazines. The model on the front (Kanye West) is the main subject of the magazine as it covers the majority of the page, and is over the GQ logo which shows his position in power. The photo is shot in high-key lighting which projects the happy, positive vibe that the magazine is trying to give across to the reader. Kanye West's body language is also very laid back which is shown through his hands being in his pockets, which makes him look confident and laid back. He also has his eyebrows raised to pose which again makes the subject look more confident and is additionally looking at the camera which makes the reader feel that he is directing the fashion at them. The coverlines of the magzine are located either side of Kanye West so that they do not get in the way of the main image, however they are still visible. The text is all in the sans-serif font which gives the magazine a contemporary feel. some of the text such as "The Bold Look" are larger then the other text which may suggest that these stories are the best or most important. The magazine uses a range of metaphores to exadgerate how good the advice in the magazine is, such as :" Dress like a GOD". The Magaine also uses relatable puns, for example "The Boob-ier tube" reffering to YouTube which adds abit of humour to the advertisement.
