This magazine uses a sans serif font at the top right corner for the word "contents" to show that the magazine is modern. This contrasts with the filter that is used as the photo of Barrack Obama as it is made to look vintage. The subject is smiling with his fingers together which stereotypically represents intelligence or whit. He is also smiling which projects positivity, and with the additional high-key lighting used, his teeth look very white which gives him an image that men desire. The two headlines "features and fashion" use an alliteration which keeps the magazine basic and easy for the reader to follow. Van Zoonen's theory is expressed in this picture due to the fact that the subject is wearing a suit and tie. The fact that Barrack Obama is a public figure in America promotes the idea that men are supposed to be in power, which projects that we still live in a patriarchal society.
